Karmapa’s message concerning the Amritsar train accident

October 21, 2018

Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, shares the following message following a train accident in Amritsar, India’s northern Punjab state:

Dear dharma friends,

More than 60 people, including children, lost their lives in a tragic train accident in Amritsar, in which Hindu practitioners were struck down as they were taking part in festival celebrations.

In such moments, labels like ‘Hindu’, ‘Buddhist’ or ‘Christian’ mean very little. In such moments, in fact in all moments, we are all part of a human family.

In the face of impermanence, when our brothers and sisters suffer, let us continue to practice. Whether we pray differently, let us pray together, and offer our hearts to those affected by this tragedy.

With compassion,
Thaye Dorje
His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa
