The joyful atmosphere was palpable at Dhagpo Kundreul Ling, in Le Bost, as 500 monastic and lay sangha welcomed Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Rinchen Yangzom, Sangyumla, and their son Thugseyla.

There were mandala offerings to both Karmapa and Thugseyla, as well as offerings of Ku Sung Thuk (the symbolic offering of enlightened body, speech and mind).

In a touching speech by Karmapa, he said:

It’s a great pleasure to be with all of you and to present Thugseyla to you…

I know that there is a very special connection between you and him, which is very difficult to describe, but I am very confident that this connection will make wonderful memories, not just for this lifetime, but for always and always.

Sangyumla, myself and our family, we are very happy to be a part of it. Of course, I carry a very historical name, but nevertheless, in this presence I very much feel that I am just a part of it. I am very glad to be a part of this opportunity. May it be of great, great benefit for all of us…

Life is a great theatre, and Thugseyla is playing the perfect baby role. Each of us are playing our according roles, some as parents, some as friends, some of us spectators. It gives us a glimpse at how amazing, beautiful life can be.

For many of the sangha, it was the first time they had been in the presence of Thugseyla.

With joy in their hearts, everyone thanked each other for the precious opportunity to be together.
