Karmapa gives Dharma talks and grants two empowerments
Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, arrived in Karma Migyur Ling, Montchardon, in the late evening of 25 July. Upon his arrival, he immediately went to pay a visit to Venerable Lama Tonsang. Karmapa’s meeting with the old Tibetan master after such a long time was a joyous, touching moment for both of them.
Over the course of the next six days, Karmapa continued his Dharma talks on the 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva. He also granted the Bodhisattva Vows and the empowerments of Green Tara and Thousand-Armed Chenresig, embodiment of the enlightened compassion of all Buddhas, to a gathering of about 900 practitioners.
During his stay in Montchardon, Karmapa consecrated two new temples dedicated to the practice of Nyung-ne and Green Tara, which had been constructed since his last visit.
He also had meetings with the residents and team members of Karma Migyur Ling and its branch centres and gave them extensive advice concerning the purpose and ‘vocation’ of a Dharma centre. During these encounters he expressed his deep appreciation for the hard work and tireless efforts that Lama Tonsang and his students had put into establishing Montchardon. Karmapa voiced his hope that the centre will continue to serve as an access point to the Buddha Dharma for countless beings for many years to come.
Karmapa departed Montchardon on 1 August 2023, headed for the Europe Center in Bavaria, Germany, the next stop on his European tour.
