Karmapa celebrates noble land of India

August 14, 2017

Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, offers this message on the occasion of India’s Independence Day:

Dear dharma friends

The 71st Independence Day, on the 15th of August 2017, is a moment for us all to express our appreciation for the noble land of India.

I ask all of my students, and indeed Buddhists all around the world, to utilise this auspicious occasion to bring India to their hearts.

For Buddhists, India has given us so much. With the limitless compassion of a loving mother, India gave birth to Buddhism. This noble land’s culture, diversity, history – in short, her Inner Wealth – bring the whole world an abundance of treasures.

On this day, may we all celebrate this great nation.

With prayers

Thaye Dorje
His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa
