Karmapa visits KKBC Singapore, Part 2

September 19, 2025

Over the course of the following days, the Singapore programme with Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, continued, in the presence of Venerable Shangpa Rinpoche; a large gathering of Rinpoches, monks and nuns; as well as numerous lay devotees from East and West.

On the evening of the 8th of September, Karmapa granted the empowerment of the Medicine Buddha (Tib. Sangye Menla), the wisdom aspect embodying the healing powers of all Buddhas. Sangye Menla has the ability to protect practitioners from not only physical and mental sicknesses and obstacles, but most importantly the root causes of all suffering, which are none other than the disturbing emotions and karma.

On the 9th and the 11th of September, Karmapa gave two Dharma talks at KKBC, focused on the topic of Mind Training (Tib. Lojong), including how to use these timeless methods to deal with the tremendous pressures and ever-quickening pace of modern life. During both sessions, he gave the gathered practitioners ample opportunity to ask topic-related questions.

On the afternoon of the 11th of September, Karmapa, together with the Sangha of Rinpoches, monks and nuns, performed an Amitabha Jangchod Puja, a special ritual to liberate the recently deceased.

In between the public sessions, Karmapa gave many private and public audiences to individuals and groups of practitioners from various centres in Asia and Europe.
