12th anniversary of the parinirvana of Shamar Rinpoche
June 10, 2026
During the first week of July 2026, Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, spent time at Karma Kunga Padkar Ling, a developing meditation and healing centre set across ten acres of the beautiful Křivoklát forests, around an hour from Nala Centre in Prague, Czech Republic.
Established under the guidance of the late Venerable Maniwa Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche, Karma Kunga Padkar Ling represents a significant long-term undertaking: a sanctuary where meditation, Buddhist practice, and holistic healing come together for the benefit of many, designed to serve generations to come.
The completed stupa and statues of Guru Rinpoche and Chenrezig already give powerful expression to this aspiration. In time, the centre will include a large meditation hall, accommodation for practitioners, a Five Elements Spa, and facilities for traditional Tibetan medicine and other healing methods.
During his time at the centre, Karmapa gave a Dharma talk on the newly inaugurated stupa, explaining the meaning of blessing and how its beneficial influence continues to unfold over time. He led the consecration ceremony for the stupa and blessed the statues of Guru Rinpoche and Chenrezig. Karmapa also bestowed the lung, or reading transmission, of the Mahamudra Prayer, met with centre members and devotees, and held question-and-answer sessions covering a wide range of topics.
