Kagyu Monlam 2022 announcement

October 31, 2022

The Private Office of Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, shares the following message regarding the Kagyu Monlam 2022.

Dear Dharma friends,

We would like to inform all of you that following the advice and instructions of Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, our annual Kagyu Monlam Prayer – the twentieth to date – will once again be held in the safe environments of our various monasteries in India and Nepal, just like in the past two years.

While the situation around the pandemic has greatly improved by now, both in India and all over the world, it would still not be advisable to organise an international gathering with a large number of devotees travelling to Bodhgaya from all corners of the globe.

The dates for this year’s Kagyu Monlam have been fixed from the 14th to the 20th of December, 2022. In order to enable the largest possible number of practitioners to join in the prayer meeting, a live-stream of the Monlam conducted by Karmapa’s Sangha Dhuche at Rumtek, Sikkim, will once again be provided.

Karmapa hopes that many of you will be able to participate in this most auspicious gathering, albeit from a distance; and he looks forward to finally meeting all of you again in person in 2023.

Further details regarding the schedule will be published soon.
