Karmapa’s letter regarding today’s earthquake in Taiwan

February 6, 2016

Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, has written a letter regarding the earthquake that struck Taiwan today.

New Delhi, 6 February, 2016 Dear dharma friends It is with great sorrow that I learned of the disastrous earthquake that struck the city of Tainan in Southern Taiwan in the early hours of this morning, just two days before the celebrations of Chinese New Year. Several people have lost their lives, hundreds are injured or still trapped in the collapsed buildings, and many more have lost their homes and belongings and are left without any means of subsistence. As a practitioner of the Buddha dharma, I offer my aspirations and prayers for all those who have been affected by this calamity, and I ask all of my students to do so as well. In particular, I ask you to focus on the six-syllable mantra of Chenresig and to dedicate the merit to the victims of this disaster, as well as to the victims of all natural and man-made disasters. With prayers, Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa
