Karmapa in Hong Kong: photo report

May 15, 2018

From 31 March–8 April 2018, Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, gave dharma teachings, led ceremonies, and met thousands of students during his fourth official visit to Hong Kong.

In a busy schedule, Karmapa led public teachings, pujas (Buddhist ceremonies), and gave a Chenresig empowerment. He also visited the local Bodhi Path Center, New Horizon Buddhist Association, as well as Khenpo Karsang’s Kagyu Library and Lama Jakarla’s Bodhi Path Tara Buddhist Center. Bodhi Path is the dharma organisation founded by Karmapa’s late teacher, Mipham Chokyi Lodro, His Holiness the 14th Kunzig Shamarpa, for which Karmapa – as leader of the Karma Kagyu lineage – now also has spiritual responsibility.

Buddhist teachers and students from Hong Kong and around the world were granted audiences with Karmapa. At Hong Kong harbour, Karmapa led a traditional release ceremony of live creatures into the sea.
