Chelyabinsk Diamond Way Buddhist Centre

The Chelyabinsk Buddhist Center was founded in 1991 by Lama Ole Nydahl and is under the spiritual guidance of the head of the Karma Kagyu tradition – Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa. The center belongs to the Russian Association of Diamond Way Buddhists of the Karma Kagyu Tradition, which unites more than 70 centers and groups in the Russian Federation territory. The Chelyabinsk Buddhist Center is one of the 650 centers of this Tibetan tradition in the world.

The main task of the Center is to maintain wisdom about mind available for those who wish to use it. This wisdom is contained in Buddhism and has been passed from teacher to student since the times of Buddha Shakyamuni.

The goal of the Buddha’s Teachings is to reach Enlightenment, or Buddha’s state, that is the full development of the primordial potential of the body, speech, and mind for the benefit of all beings. Buddha taught about absolute and conditioned reality. Thanks to the methods he gave Buddhism is the tool for changing the quality of everyday human life. The Teachings open the possibility of experiencing permanent happiness for the practitioner.

Methods of reaching this goal are based on learning the Buddhist philosophy, which explains what the world is, how human mind works, what the reason of suffering is and how it can be eliminated; the meditation, i.e. practical exercises, which transform theory into direct experience; and the way of life or the methods of keeping the attained level of mind development.
