Shamar Rinpoche’s commemoration now to take place in India

May 8, 2015

The ceremonies for the one-year anniversary of the passing of His Holiness Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche will be held at the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute (KIBI) in New Delhi, India, and not in Nepal as previously planned. The ceremonies will be led by Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa. The exact dates will be communicated soon. The Private Office of Karmapa regrets the inconvenience that the uncertainty in the program may have caused, and the delay in clarifying the location of the ceremonies. This is due to the recent earthquake in Nepal and the difficult conditions that followed.

Karmapa’s students in monasteries and Dharma centers throughout the world who have not planned to come to KIBI are invited to host their own local programs for the anniversary of Shamar Rinpoche’s passing. It is equally auspicious to participate in such local programs.

For more information, please see the website for the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute, or email Bettina at kibiadmission@gmail.com.
Please note, unfortunately there is no available accommodation space at KIBI for students or other visitors, so please kindly make your own arrangements. All of the available space is reserved for Rinpoches, lamas, monks and nuns for the commemoration.
