| Three days Pujas and Initiations with H.H. Gyalwa Karmapa in Manila |

On the 5th of June, His Holiness Karmapa presided over the Puja of Amitabha at the SMX Convention Center in Manila, before giving the empowerment of Amitabha later that evening. |
General Samuel Pagdilao, Police Director General/Chief Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippines National Police, paid his respects to His Holiness Karmapa by offering the traditional white scarf customary in Tibetan Buddhism before the Empowerment. General Pagdilao had chosen to receive the empowerment from His Holiness Karmapa in spite of his catholic tradition, due to the respect he had gained from meeting the Karmapa during His Holiness’ visit to Manila. June 6th, Gyalwa Karmapa Gives A Dharma Teaching and Refuge Vows In Manila There were many newcomers, who had come either to gain more knowledge from His Holiness Karmapa about the Buddha Dharma, its philosophical tenets and methods of practice or to take the opportunity to receive the refuge vows from such a great master as the Gyalwa Karmapa. His Holiness Karmapa answered an array of questions on topics such as Shunyata, Karma, rebirth and many more prominent themes of Buddhist Philosophy and practice. His Holiness expressed the importance of the diversity of religious beliefs in the world, adding that each one offers practical advice in the areas of ethics, morality and a sense of what is honourable and decent. Before the conclusion of the evening, His Holiness Karmapa presented Dr. Raj of De La Salle University with a crystal stupa as a token of His Holiness’ appreciation and friendship. After the puja, His Holiness awarded all the people who had participated in the organizing and supervision of the events held in manila with tokens of gratitude and appreciation. At the end of the day, all in attendance were welcomed to join His Holiness Karmapa at the Aloha Hotel for a farewell dinner.
