Many present that afternoon claimed to see miraculous signs and auspicious omens in the sky. In fact, for a moment, the crowd began to swarm towards the open field, where the large tent is located for the main events in Singapore, to witness these phenomenal events first hand.
In the evening The Gyalwa Karmapa began His two day discourse on Ngulchu Thogme Zangpo’s 37 Practices of A Bodhisattva. In just 3 short hours His Holiness Karmapa was able to complete half of the text with in-depth commentary, managing to leave the audience of scholars, educated monks, Rinpoches and the lay Buddhist community of Singapore completely satisfied with plenty to contemplate

May 28th The Gyalwa Karmapa Gives The Refuge and Bodhisattva Vow and Chenrezig Initiation Before Completing The Two Day Discourse Of The 37 Practices Of A Bodhisattva
On the morning of the 28th, His Holiness Karmapa gave both the Refuge and Bodhisattva vow to another massive gathering of devotees. His Holiness explained, “The reason we take the refuge is not different from the bodhisattva vow. It is from the point of view of wanting to benefit all sentient beings. What we need to do is to realize that we have a great opportunity to not just help ourselves but also to help others.”
In the afternoon The Gyalwa Karmapa gave the Chenrezig Initiation, before completing His discourse on the 37 Practices Of A Bodhisattva. Both the introduction to the Chenrezig Initiation and the evening’s teaching ran the gambit of important Buddhist topics. His Holiness’ prowess for explaining profound subjects with ease and grace as well as His intellectual dexterity has proven to satisfy both the most prudent scholars as well as the spiritually devout.
