Nepal Earthquake: Karmapa calls on students to give

April 27, 2015

In the light of the recent tragic earthquake in Nepal, the Private Office of the Karmapa is reviewing the soonest practical date that Karmapa may visit the country, in order to pay his respects and best serve the Nepalese people.

As students will be aware, Karmapa already had a scheduled visit to Nepal from 25 May – 8 June 2015, to mark the one year anniversary of the passing in this life of His Holiness Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche, and to inaugurate Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche’s monastery, which was damaged in the earthquake. The Private Office of the Karmapa is considering if and how these activities might take place, and more information will be published on karmapa.org as soon as possible.

Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, continues to pray for all the victims and those affected by this disaster.

Karmapa has made a donation to the International Medical Corps to support vital work in the aftermath of the earthquake. If you have the resources, Karmapa asks that you too consider making a donation, which can be made using the following link: https://internationalmedicalcorps.org/nepal-earthquake – or by using your charity of choice to give in any way you can.
