Karmapa’s message for Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s birthday

April 13, 2016

To mark Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s birthday, which is on 14 April, Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, shares a message about the importance of his life and work.

As a Buddhist student, an individual, the leader of the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, and a guest of the great nation of India, I am honored to remember Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s significant contribution to the world of Buddhism.

May Dr. Ambedkar’s efforts to preserve the timeless teachings of Lord Buddha, to cultivate Inner Wealth – the practice of compassion and wisdom – within all sentient beings, prevail for the benefit of all.

May we, as Buddhist practitioners, have the courage to face this great responsibility to preserve the Buddha dharma for the benefit of all future generations.

May we always be blessed by the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and Arhats for the development of goodness – Bhadra.

Jai Bhim.
