Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, shares a message about disasters

Dear dharma friends

During the first days of this new lunar year, this Year of the Fire Monkey, we have seen all kinds of disasters: the floods in Malaysia; the outbreak of yellow fever in Angola; the train crash in Germany; the bombs in Nigeria; the Zika virus in Brazil; the ongoing humanitarian crisis facing those fleeing Syria and other war-torn countries; and many other disasters around the world.

In the face of such news, let us pray together that this year brings no further tragedies. In the face of such suffering and heartbreak, let us respond with compassion and loving kindness. Let us care for each other, and use our precious human lives to benefit all sentient beings.

I pray for all those affected by tragic events around the world, and invite you to do so as well.

With compassion

Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa
