Thousands of monks, nuns, and lay practitioners had gathered once more at the Maha Bodhi Temple to offer aspirations for the benefit of all sentient beings. Once again this year, all the sessions of the Kagyu Monlam were live-streamed, so as to enable practitioners from around the world to join in the accumulations. On the morning of 16 December, Karmapa also visited the Bodhi Tree School again for the first time since 2019, in support of the activities of the Bodhi Tree Educational Foundation. The Bodhi Tree Educational Foundation is a non-profit organization that builds schools and develops educational programs for children from underprivileged backgrounds in the region of Bodh Gaya and Northern India. Lines of children welcomed Karmapa with a military parade and a scattering of flower pedals, and performed songs and cultural dances in his honour. Karmapa also visited their new nursery and handed tokens of appreciation to the guests of honour. Everyone was overjoyed to receive him again after such a long time, and expressed the hope that he would visit again soon.
